Journal review of Seawater Corrosion
Corrosion can be happened too in Seawater environment. I wanna inform about my journal review from Durodola, B.M, J.A.O. Olugbuyiro, S.A. Moshood, O.S Fayomi, A.P.I. “Study of Influence of Zinc Plated Mild Steel Deterioration in Seawater Environment”. International Journal of Electrochemical Science, 6 (2011): 5605 - 5616.
It's not only about that journal but also more information about seawater corrosion.
Here it is!

Corrosion protection
There are many ways to protect material from corrosion. Here is below you can see the detail.
Nb: I take this information from several references.
Enjoy! ;)

Resume Journal of CO2 Corrosion of Carbon Steel
In my previous post, i've already informed about CO2 corrosion. In this post i will inform more detailed again about this kind of corrosion but based on journal of The effect of acetic acid on the pit propagation on CO2 corrosion of carbon steel from Amri, J., E.Gulbrandsen, R.P Nogueira.

Material Selection for CNG Tank
Again my post is about material selection. don't get bored guys! :D
Nowadays in Indonesia, natural gas is a favorite energy sources and many vehicles already used compressed natural gas (CNG) because this technology is much more environmental friendly than vehicles that used fuel gas.
Because of that, people demand a good CNG for their vehicles.A good CNG also related with material selection itself, because we need a light CNG tank and so many requirements that we have to fulfill in order to be applicable in vehicles. For more detail, you can see my explanation below.

Material Selection for Wear Application
In my previous post, i've already informed about material selection for food packaging material. Now i will inform again about material selection but for wear application. As we know, wear is a solid surface destruction caused by movement in between solid surface or another substance. There are so material application that needed a good wear resistance for example is a slurry pump impellers. Here you can see all of related things to material selection for slurry pump impellers application.

Material Selection for Food Packaging Material
We can use various type of material for food packaging material but it all depends on their applications. For example, material selection for beverages and material for temperature resistance containers definitely will be different. Its all because their need specific properties for each applications. At this time, i will discuss more about polymer as food packacing material. Check this out!

High Temperature Corrosion
What do you think when you hear about high temperature corrosion? is the mechanism as same as corrosion mechanism as usual?the answer is "not". High temperature corrosion has a really different mechanism compare with aqueous corrosion as we know. To know further about high temperature corrosion, you can read my journal review of High – Temperature Chlorine-Sulfur Corrosion of Heat-Resisting Steels.

Internal Corrosion in Oil and Gas Industry
Corrosion has a really good relationship with Oil & Gas Industry. Why i said that? As we know in oil and gas industry, corrosion phenomena always happened as an internal damage or external damage. In this time, i will discuss more about internal corrosion in oil and gas industry, for more detail is Case study on erosion–corrosion degradation of pipework located on an offshore oil and gas facility, a journal from Hu, Xinming, Richard Barker, Anne Neville, Abinesh Gnanavelu.
Enjoy! :D

Seminar Fast Track Online
On March 27, 2012, me and my friend, Latifa, did our first "SEMINAR FAST TRACK ONLINE". We did the presentation at 09.15 - 09.30 WIB @Chevron Dekanat FTUI after our friend (Sigma and rara) from the same major as us did their presentation.
Our presentation was about "Proses Penyiapan Media Penyimpan Hidrogen Berbahan Dasar Karbon Aktif Batubara melalui Perlakuan Mekanokimia". Before we presented that, we already discussed it with our Supervisor. FYI, that presentation was a part of our research (not the final stage of our research).
That presentation was presented by me and latifa. Firstly, latifa explained about the background and experiment from our research. And after that, I explained about the results and discussions from our research and last but not
least the conclusion.
Actually on that day, all of you can saw us live on http://www.seamolec.org/ft/ui. The presentation was not only from UI's Students but also from ITB, UGM, ITS. So interesting, right? :D
So, for the next "Seminar Fast Track Online", if any of you wanna see Fasttrack's Scholar at Kemendiknas in a next Seminar Fast Track Online just stay tune on http://www.seamolec.org/ft. And maybe "Seminar Fast Track Online - Batch 2" will be held on June 27, 2012!

Microbiologically induced corrosion of copper pipes in low – ph water
haloha, i'm back with another journal review. In this time, i will inform you more about microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC). MIC can occured because of influence of microorganisms on corrosion process of metal, cause by microorganism adhering to the interfaces, usually called as biofilms. MIC can occur in various types of environment and materials. This journal review will be specific "MIC of Copper material in drinking water environment".

Material Selection for Insulation for Short-term Isothermal Containers
A few days ago, my lecturer taught me about how to select a suitable material for a certain application. It's kinda a good lecture because i just know about it's not that easy that we thought to choose a proper material for a certain application. Here it is some case study for material selection. Hope it'll be useful.

Graduated from Metallurgy and Materials Engineering and Next Planning
My graduation was on Saturday February 18, 2012 in which exactly one month ago, on January 18, 2012 I was facing a thesis defense. I finally feel relieved because I've finally got a bachelor degree in engineering (SARJANA TEKNIK "ST").
On February 3, 2012,I officially became a master degree student because I'd got a new NPM, username for SIAK- NG and student identity card (KTM).
I've been getting estimate topic of my thesis for master degree. I will continue to consult with my supervisor to discuss further on the topic of my thesis. Should be made clear that the topic of my thesis is concerned with topic of my bachelor degree's thesis. I have the same supervisor, but the topic of my thesis for master degree, of course newer and more refined.
In addition, this semester I took four courses which are research methodolgy and computation, materials selection and design, advanced corrosion, and corrosion protection.
So keep reading this blog, and you'll get the latest information from me.
*Cheers*

Thesis for Bachelor Degree
Finally my thesis for bachelor degree has finished!!!!
A title for my thesis is Wet Mechanochemical Treatment on Coal-Based Activated Carbon for Hydrogen Storage.
Here is an abstract for my thesis:
Activated carbon from bituminous coal with submicrometer and nanometer size was developed for hydrogen storage materials. The purpose of this research is to increase the effectiveness of mechanochemical process on coal-based activated carbon sample used a planetary ball mill with ratio of carbon and KOH 1:1 and thermal activation process is not necessary. Activated carbon results from mechanochemical process will be made in the form of pellets with the addition of binder which is containing fructose, sucrose and oligo of by compacting. After mechanical milling process coal activated carbon obtained by the size of 414.7 nm which increased by 98.9%. Increasing the effectiveness of the hydrogen storage material can be seen from the increased capacity of adsorption of hydrogen at a temperature of-5 oC where there was an increase of ± 386.48 times and at a temperature of -25 oC there was an increase of ± 398.56 times compared with the untreated sample.
